Our Governors play a very important role in the running of the school. Together with the Head Teacher, they are responsible for all aspects of management. They give their time freely and assume ever greater responsibilities.
Our Governing Body currently comprises ten members. Some are appointed and some elected. Our School Administrator also acts as Clerk to the Governors. Governors normally serve a four year term of office.
The full Governing Body meets twice each term to discuss the management of the school with the Head teacher.
There are three main sub-committees, which also meet separately twice a term and submit reports to the full Governing Body for each meeting.
These are:
The Finance Committee – which looks after and monitors the school’s budget The Curriculum Committee – which monitors all aspects of learning and activities within the school
The Buildings Committee – which looks after all aspects of the property, health & safety, fire risk, security etc.
Many Governors also have additional roles, such as personnel issues and salaries, monitoring of performance management, the implementation of all policy documents, the completion of on-line information forms, the monitoring of the annual School Improvement Plan, classroom visits, fundraising activities and most importantly, relations with parents and the local community.
Governors are also there to listen, discuss and help parents and anyone involved with the school whenever required. Please feel free to make initial contact with any Governor through the School Office.
Governors also attend training courses, forums and the like to keep abreast of all changes and improvements in the education system. |
