Mrs C A Mannion-Watson
Welcome to The Kingsley School website. We hope that you will find it interesting and informative and that you will feel encouraged to pay us a visit in person.

Founded in 1884, we have a long history of educating girls and are convinced of the value of an all-girls education in encouraging pupils to become confident and articulate young women.

We provide continuity of care from 3 – 18 in a supportive family environment where each individual is encouraged to achieve her potential in all areas. Respect for others, a pride in self and school and a commitment to the community are all foremost in the school’s core values.

Why choose a girls' school?

learning to succeed
learning to succeed

Girls' schools are experienced in providing the right kind of supportive and stimulating environment in which girls can flourish.

Gender stereotyping in co-educational schools can make girls more passive, less adventurous and more concerned with their appearance than their learning.

Boys have a tendency to dominate teacher attention in co-educational classrooms.

Girls play a much more active part in their learning when there are no boys in the classroom.

Girls are more likely to choose a wider range of subjects in all-girls' schools. A recent survey showed that in girls' schools, over 70% more girls took A Level Maths, 80% more girls studied French, German or Spanish and over 90% Physical Science at A Level compared to their counterparts in co-educational schools.

Girls' schools provide better opportunities for leadership.

Girls' schools build confidence and self-belief, enabling girls to succeed in all aspects of the wider world beyond school.

The School

The School
Founded by Rose Kingsley, the daughter of the author Charles Kingsley, who wrote “The Water Babies”, we are proud of our history as one of the first all-girls schools.

Originally established as a Church of England school, we now welcome pupils of all faiths, reflecting our core values of tolerance and respect for the feelings and beliefs of others.

Each section of the school is housed in separate but adjacent buildings centred around Beauchamp Hall, an attractive Victorian building in the heart of Leamington Spa. We have extensive, well-maintained playing fields comprising a modern pavilion, four hockey pitches, five netball courts, six tennis courts and five rounders pitches. New changing rooms have just been built on the Senior School site.

We aim to equip all our pupils with the information retrieval and handling skills which are vital for success in today’s fast-changing world. The recently refurbished Learning Resources Centre also plays an essential role in encouraging independent learning. The school is well-equipped with up to date educational technology, including interactive whiteboards.

New music and art facilities have recently been added to enhance further a curriculum rich in the creative arts.

Pastoral care

Pastoral care

We have a strong and effective pastoral system, led by the Deputy Head (pastoral), Mrs Catherine Robbins, with a dedicated Head of Year for each year group. All members of the teaching staff are involved in pastoral care.

Our pastoral care aims to:

 - promote our friendly, caring ethos

 - support girls in achieving high standards in all areas of school life

 - create a mutually respectful and hard-working environment.
