Welcome to Thorns Infant School

"Having a daughter who enjoys going to school and wants to learn is the best way to describe Thorns School.  The teaching staff are excellent and very friendly and give every child time to develop at their own pace." Mrs Kerry - Parent

"As a result of good quality teaching and learning pupils attain well above average standards in reading, writing and mathematics and achievement is predominantly good.  The school is led and managed very well and provides good value for money." Ofsted Report 2005.

"I like to visit the magic willow garden because it is nice and peaceful"  - Nicole - Year 2

"The agility trail is colourful. We get exercise on it as we climb on the apparatus ."  - Phoebe  -  Year 2

Thorns Infant School is one of the top performing schools in Kenilworth, producing excellent academic results, and well motivated, happy children.  Thorns received an exemplary OFSTED inspection report during 2005 which recognised the high standards of teaching and learning enjoyed right across the school.

Thorns holds the Investors In People award, the ‘Warwickshire Health Promoting Schools Scheme’ at Bronze, Silver and Gold, the School Achievement Award, and the Warwickshire Schools Safety Merit Award.

Uniquely in Kenilworth, Thorns has its own swimming pool, enabling all children to learn to swim by the end of year 2.  Thorns also has an on-site ‘out of school’ club called Brambles, which provides wrap around care and learning for children from as young as 2 years 9 months old.  Brambles’ is open five days a week, including a holiday club during school holidays.

The opportunity to register a place for you child at Thorns Infant School is still open.  For more details, please contact the Admissions Office, at Warwickshire Education Authority on 01926 742037 and ask for an application form.

Brambles

Out of School Club

Brambles is our thriving and exciting out of school club with the emphasis on fun. We take up to 30 children before and after school and our wide range of activities include art and crafts, games, television, computer games, dressing up, looking after our three rabbits and swimming three times a week.  We are staffed to a ratio of 1 adult to 8 children at all times.

We are open all year round, including school holidays, when we are open from 8 am to 6 pm.  Your child/ren may attend any sessions to suit your requirements.

Working parents know that their children are happy and in a safe, caring environment and the children love the fun and games so much so, that they don't always want to go home!
