Welcome to our school !
Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision and we hope that this prospectus will help you in this task. At Harborne Primary School, we see ourselves as a learning community where everyone works together on behalf of the children. We believe that a partnership between parents, staff and governors is vital if the children are to be happy and successful learners. We are proud of our high standards of achievement in both work and behaviour and of the wide range of opportunities for the children, which enrich the curriculum.
Harborne Primary is a three-form entry, non-denominational school that is maintained by the Local Education Authority. It was opened in September 2000 as a result of the amalgamation of the highly regarded Harborne Infant School and Junior Schools that dated back to 1902 in the current building. The new school was created to provide even greater opportunities for curriculum continuity for children for children between the ages of four to eleven.
Throughout your child's time in our school you will have lots of opportunities to be involved and to share in your child's learning.

Our Aims
At Harborne Primary School, we see ourselves as a learning community where everyone works together on behalf of the children. To help us maintain ahappy and caring ethos in which children can achieve high standards of successful learning, we want staff, parents and governors to support our school aims:
Our ethos
To value all children as individuals celebrating their achievements and supporting their individual needs within the framework of equal opportunities.
To provide opportunities for social, moral, spiritual and cutural developement so that children value and respect their own and other cultures.
To encourage children to be confident, motivated young citizens, accepting responsibility for their own behaviour and being caring and sensitive towards the needs of others and the environment.
Our Staff
To use the expertise of individual staff to encourage teamwork and promote quality teaching and learning.
To value all our staff and provide opportunities for their continous professional developement.
Our Community
To promote a partnership between staff, parents, governors and the wider community, which enhances children's learning.
Resources
To match available resources as efficiently and effectively as possible to meet whole-school objectivies and provide an accessible curriculum for all our children.
Premises
To consider carefully the use of space so as to provide an attractive, safe and stimulating learning environment.
Each year we look at what is happening or constraining us in meeting our aims. These reviews help us set targets in the annual School Development and Impovement Plan so that the school keeps movng forwards for the children. You will have the opportunities to be involved in this process and we hope that you will want to contribute your ideas for the benefit of the school. |
