Welcome to Parkfield High

Parkfield High School aims to ensure that all its pupils perform to the best of their ability in a happy and caring environment. In order to achieve our aim, we offer the most up to date facilities that can compete with any that may be found in other schools. Our technology suites, in particular, are second to none.

We have high expectations of our pupils and want to work with parents to ensure that we maintain high standards in all aspects of school life. Above all, we want Parkfield to be a neighbourhood comprehensive that reflects its community, and one that parents actively choose because they recognise and value the quality of teaching and learning, the good discipline, the caring approach, and the enthusiasm and happiness that are all hallmarks of the work that the school does.

The school offers a wide variety of opportunities throughout the age range, from the academic to the sporting. We encourage our youngsters to develop their talents and nurture their creativity. We are proud of our successes and want to actively promote the achievements of children.

We believe that our buildings and facilities provide the right platform from which to ensure that success.

If you would like to visit the school, meet the staff, or look around the school during lesson time please contact the school office; we will be pleased to give you as much information as we can so that the decision that you are about to make is as informed as it can possibly be.

I look forward to welcoming your child to Parkfield High School, and to working with you to ensure that their secondary education will be a happy and successful experience.

Mr. A. Thompson B.Ed. M.Ed.

About the School

Mission Statement

At Parkfield High School, all our efforts are aimed at ensuring the best possible achievements for our children. For this reason, we set high targets for examination success and monitor closely each child’s progress through the programmes of study.

We also place great importance on Learning Support, helping children who have learning difficulties to overcome them.

We value highly the partnership we have with parents and we work hard to keep you fully informed of your child’s development in school. It is our aim that all our pupils should complete their years at Parkfield with the best possible exam results and a Record of Achievement showing their growth in all areas of life.

We expect a high standard of behaviour from our students and each classroom has on display a code of conduct. Our pupils are expected to be polite, considerate and hard working at all times.

Achievement

Our actions to achieve this include the following:

null A reading test for each pupil on entry to inform teaching programmes.
null Teaching groups set by ability where appropriate.
null Progress reports to parents on request, as well as a full report each year.
null A portfolio of personal achievements kept by form tutors, building to the National Record of Achievement.
null Regular Academic Assessments to check learning and workrate.
null A range of lunchtime and after school activities provide enjoyment and success outside lessons.
null A rewards system to encourage personal ambition and pride.
null Annual Awards evenings to celebrate and reward achievement.
null Personal Tutors for exam year students to help them get the best possible grades.
null A comprehensive mentoring system throughout Key Stage Three.
null Personal targets set for each pupil.
