The aim of Stivichall Primary School’s School Council is to involve pupils in decision making in around the school. The children are respected as partners in their education. Stivichall’s school council allows the opportunity for each class to have their say through a class representative.
The school council discuss any points raised and vote on a course of action. Each year a new representative is voted in by their classmates. Each year a teacher volunteers to attend the school council meetings and help keep the minutes and contribute to the discussions. The Head teacher Mr. Rose also attends and gets involved in discussions. He gives advice on the budget and tells the pupils how much things cost. The school council meets twice a term.
Amy L is a Year 6 council member for 2007/8 and she says ‘The school council works very hard for the school to get nice things for the children and make the school a nicer working environment.’
For more information about the school council please contact Mrs. Robinson, the PSHE coordinator or the Head teacher.
