All pupils are encouraged to explore their musical talent to its fullest with the Director of Music being supported by specialist peripatetic instrumental teachers. During the academic year the school choir performs at Birmingham Cathedral, Symphony Hall and various choral festivals throughout the Midlands.
West House School is committed to the development of the curriculum, particularly through the use of I.C.T. The computer suite is housed in the purpose-built Centenary Building along with the school library and Art facility.
The School is structured according to Key Stages and broadly follows the National Curriculum. A carefully planned timetable allows greater time to be dedicated to core curriculum subjects whilst allowing pupils to benefit from the input of specialist subject teachers. Significant emphasis is placed on the pastoral guidance of pupils in their preparation for adult life, with everyone actively contributing to the school code of conduct.
West House is a school with a distinctive caring family atmosphere that results in a happy learning environment for the pupils. The School's genuine concern for its pupils' welfare stems from a tradition of long serving headmasters and continued by current Head, Alistair M. J. Lyttle, an Old Boy of the School!
