Academic Attainment

Willenhall School Sports College has a proven track record of high standards, encouraging and rewarding achievements by all. We are a mixed comprehensive school educating pupils in the 11-18 age range. The school has over 1540 Students on roll of which two hundred are post sixteen and housed in their own sixth form centre. We are heavily over-subscribed and have a waiting list to join us in most years.

At Willenhall School Sports College you will find an orderly and welcoming environment. We seek to achieve the highest standards of work and behaviour and to instill in our students the need for self-discipline. All pupils are expected to conduct themselves in a mature and responsible manner conforming to the school rules.

The school takes great pride in the fact that we have:

  • Increased the number of students achieving 5 GCSE A-C from 13% to 50% during the last 10 years.

  • Similarly raised our 5A*-G's, 1A-G's and average point score.

  • At A level most students go on to higher education at a variety of universities around the country. Most study at our local universities and we have a strong partnership with the University of Wolverhampton.

Sports College

We were awarded specialist school status in Sport in 2001 and redesignated in 2005 with Science as a second subject.  The aim of the specialism is to raise standards across the whole school.  Such status provides us with an increased investment and excellent opportunities for all, therefore influencing all aspects of school life.

The Sports College is the host to Willenhall School Sports partnership and works closely with local primary and secondary schools promoting PE and Sport.

Willenhall School Leisure and Community is situated on the school site and is organised and managed by the Sports College.  The centre offers Adult Education classes, sport and recreation activities for local people and clubs throughout the year, including holidays.

Willenhall School Sports College is involved in numerous national initiatives including:
