Kelty Primary

Kelty Primary School is a large school in the west of Fife. It has approximately 390 pupils. Our school building was built over 100 years ago and is of typical Victorian architecture. We hope you get a flavour of our school by browsing through our web pages

SCHOOL CLUBS

Reading Club

The Reading Club is all about making reading fun. The children help each other through Paired Reading. This means that the older children are the tutors and the younger children the tutees.

They have lots of fun actvities such as reading and recording plays, games such as Boggle and Scrabble. At the end of each session they enjoy reading from one of their lovely big books.

Recorders

The recorder groups teacher is Mrs Scanlin. She takes groups of children from Primary seven and we are learning to play Christmas songs. We go to the music festival every year. There are 3 different recorders used.

Computer Club

In the computer club we have been working on redesigning the web page.  Our tutors are Miss Cairns, Ms Ewing and Mrs. Mellis.  We have also spent some time designing posters for our Christmas Fayre and Christmas cards.  The computer club will start again in the New Year 2005 and the teachers and pupils are all looking forward to trying something new.

SCHOOL SPORTS

Football

We have football training on a Thursday after school for one and half hours.

Mrs. Amos and Mr. Anderson are the coaches.

At the moment we are practicing penalties and one on ones.

Rugby

Watch this space in the near future.

Badminton

Some primary sevens go to badminton club on Wednesday and Monday. The playground supervisor who takes the club is called Mrs. Conway.

CLASS PROJECTS

The whole school have been focusing on science this term and everyone is enjoying the investigations and experiments. We have lots of interesting displays.

The primary ones are doing a topic on zoo and wild animals.  They are looking at elephants, zebras, monkeys and giraffe to name but a few.  They have just finished doing a topic on nursery rhymes.

The primary two's have been doing a project on the senses.

They are also learning more about friends and family.  They have just finished a topic on houses and homes.

The primary three's have been investigating pushing and pulling with a project on moving toys.

The Primary fours have been researching food packaging.

The primary 5's have been learning about different types of weather.

Primary 6's have been doing a project on electricity and have been making their own switches to turn on a light bulb.

Primary 7's have done a topic about the rainforest.

In primary 7 the younger pupils do French and the older pupils do German.

We are very proud of the work that we do in Kelty Primary and we hope you have enjoyed looking at a few pictures showing our work.
