Introduction by the Head teacher

I would like to send my very sincere thanks to all parents for the outstanding efforts you have made on behalf of the school to ensure a smooth start to the new Session 2005-06.

As we close our second week at Earnock High School, can I say to all of you that I am very pleased, proud and privileged to be in charge of the staff and pupils who have been so welcoming to me here.

One of my aims is to listen very closely to parents and in return I hope to communicate with you regularly so that we can work in partnership to promote the achievement of our pupils.

Already, I have had many parents commenting on the excellent appearance and behaviour of our young people and I know that we will work together to ensure that this continues.

Thank you for your outstanding support for your school and for your new headteacher!

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Earnock High School opened its doors to pupils on the 26th August 1957 and was officially opened on the 30th August, as you can see from the front cover to the programme for the occasion.

Present at the occasion were the first Headteacher of Earnock, Mr James Dykes and also Mr Keith Joseph, who was a director of the construction firm that built the school. This man later went on to become Sir Keith Joseph, Minister for Education in Margaret Thatcher's Government in the 1980's.

A page from the programme below detailed some of the statistics about the school at the beginning.

Earnock now has a roll of 980 pupils and a much larger campus with four more modern buildings.
